Krypton’ s Second Marriage

Last time on the Mendeleev ISBI, Laurel was replaced by a clone, which has been done before to save my legacy. Never on the founding generation, though. Anyway, Krypton slapped her so he needs to work on getting a good relationship with her now.

Krypton: So… you’re hot. Like fire.

That is not the sleepwear I gave her, but I honestly don’t care enough to change it. : /

Krypton: Um.. I work out?

Laurel: Cool.

Dirty sink is dirty.

Krypton then goes to work at the stadium in… this…

Yes, him going to work in that outfit is a bit annoying, but at least he’s going to work. And can eat and stuff.

So Laurel was left alone all day, and I got to watch her and really get the ISBI experience going on. : P

First she watched the Hallmark channel on the television, probably because she’s upset about being randomly shoved in a house with a crazy guy who slaps her and then flirts with her the next morning. : /

Um… that was less funny than it sounded in my head.

She uses the bathroom! Not the floor!

Good GIRL, Laurel! Who’s a good girl? Who’s a good girl? You are! You are!

Laurel took out the trash.

She’s already a good little housewife.

This is from fainting. Because he’s a coward and it’s full moon and stuff.

This was also fainting. He was tired, but I promise if he actually ‘passes out’ from exhaustion, as it were, I will take a picture with the Z’s featured prominently.

How to wake up an uncontrollable sim who needs to get up and flirt with your TH before he goes to work.

Laurel: Oh Hallmark, why do you betray me?

Although now that I think about it, he might not have had work, and I might have just been impatient… I played this a while ago. : / Still pretty sure about the fainting bit, though.

So Laurel and Krypton spend some time getting all lovey dovey, and completely ignoring the fact that he slapped her two nights ago.

Krypton: Oh, Laurel. Our two hearts beat as one. I feel as though I’ve met you before.

You have. Twice.

They’re now going steady. I think I’ve given up on coming up with interesting things to say about these pictures.

She turns him down on his wedding proposal.

They flirt for a bit more and I take pictures because it’s cute.

Laurel: Well, a lot has changed in the past hour, so YES.

Laurel: I’M GETTING MARRIED I’M GETTING MARRIED!

You should have just said yes the first time. >_>

Krypton: Laurel, will you marry me right here, right now?

Laurel: In the bathroom?

Krypton: I can’t afford a Niagara Falls wedding (and it would be scary :() so this is the next best thing.

I then took pictures of the whole process, thinking I’d have a caption for it. : /

Laurel: Krypton, ever since I first met you, I knew you were the one. Then I changed my mind because you slapped me. Then I changed it again because sleeping on the floor sucks and I need to have a high relationship with you if we want to share the one bed we own.

Krypton: Laurel, I love you. I love your enormous nose and your foot-thick glasses. Most of all, I love your boobs heart.

You may now kiss the bride.

I think we know what this means…

Actually it’s not that self-explanatory. : / Laurel and Krypton had their honeymoon.

Now that the wedding is over Niagara Falls needs fixing.

Since Laurel is technically a different sim, I send her to go get a job… before I realized that she’d never reach her LTW because I can’t help her do reporting things. : /

She was late because it takes a loooong time for her to change.

Oh, and the honeymoon was a success.

I couldn’t care less if they enjoyed themselves or whatever.

Laurel 2.0

 

Last chapter, Laurel Grisby moved in, so it’s now time to start the actual ISBI portion of this thing.

Sadly, we’ve already gotten a fail, but moving on!

Having more than one person in the household already causes problems. Laurel decided to start watching television, and also to stand right in front of the mailbox so Krypton can’t pay the bills. I decided to use this time to build the house, since there wasn’t anything I could do about moving Laurel and nothing else for Krypton to do.

Bathroom, woo! The Mendeleevs are living large!

Bedroom/living room/kitchen. Honestly having a separate bathroom is an achievement at this point. Notice that the television was still outside at this point, because Laurel wasn’t letting me move it.

I forget if Laurel got bored herself or if I had Krypton talk to her, but either way the television was moved inside, and the mailbox cleared. I also managed this:

Krypton: Would you consider giving up vampirism?

Laurel: Sure! All I need to do is go to the archive place by the library.

SWEET. Just one command. That is precisely the number of commands I can give her!

So I sent Laurel to the archives or whatever it’s called.

Looks like the television was still outside at this point. Oops. It gets moved inside very quickly, though.

Behold! Human Laurel! Wow, usually when I turn a vampire into a human, it’s horrible and glitchy and they end up having some sort of vampiric feature left over, like fangs. But everything turned out alright!

And then when I open the game again… not so much. *reset*

Laurel is still considered human, but she still has the vampire pallor going on.

Making salad, since I don’t trust Krypton not to set everything on fire, pass out from fear, and die horribly in flames.

Laurel didn’t make dinner because she was too busy skilling… like a vampire.

This bodes poorly.

Took a plumbob shot because I wanted to be up front about watching Laurel’s motives, which IS against the rules, but she was being glitchy and I wanted to see what was up. She has a thirst bar still, and there is no red or green or any color in it, and eating does nothing to get rid of her moodlet. Her other need bars are green instead of vampire purple. I think she had the thirst moodlet rather than hunger, but I’m not entirely sure. She didn’t have an option to take plasma juice from the fridge, so I have no idea if that would have helped. : /

After I cheat away her moodlet, hoping things would resolve themselves at some point, Krypton finally has a chance to get close to his new wife.

Very close.

Laurel cooks more food that does nothing to help her hunger. I cheat away the moodlet and continue to reset her a bunch, hoping that will fix it.

All the while growing a bit annoyed that Laurel had to turn into a vampire while Krypton still needed to age to an adult.

Vomit shot.

Krypton loves his wife even though she’s glitched and would probably starve to death if I wasn’t blasting away her moodlets and feeling like a cheat the whole time.

It’s not my fault. : (

Laurel complains about money. Or something.

You’ll have to forgive me about not getting that into her, since the title already gives away the fact that she is not long for this world.

Krypton goes to get a job in athletics. I figure it’ll bring in money and let him work on his LTW at the same time. He can work on his logic at home with Laurel or, in the future, the kids, which has the added bonus of boosting relationships.

This scary lady across town wants to marry Krypton. She knows that Laurel is too glitchy to be a good legacy spouse.

Vulture.

Vampire girl: OMG! It’s Krypton Mendeleev! If only I were old enough to be his wife!

Krypton then is sent to research the supernatural.

I think I might have believed that would actually help. Or something.

Chess.

More food that does nothing.

Proof of Laurel’s messed-up biology.

So I gave up, got rid of the old Laurel, and then changed the one I had saved to human in CAS and merged her into the household. So basically set it up to how it should have been without glitches (I changed the family funds back to what they were before) except now Laurel and Krypton don’t know each other and aren’t married. And Laurel is no longer pregnant with Rubidium.

Unfortunately, I decided this in the middle of the night, and they’re both growing tired. But we have one double bed and Laurel won’t be able to sleep there if she’s not at a high enough relation with Krypton.

They seem to be friendly enough, though.

Until Krypton slaps her because apparently visiting the archives makes sims do stuff like that. : /

… why?

So all the green in their relationship went away, and I was forced to buy a sleeping bag for Laurel.

Krypton will be trying again tomorrow. *sigh*

My Big Fat Vampire Wedding

Welcome to the first official chapter of the Mendeleev ISBI! If you haven’t read the original legacy, I would very much suggest it, but I’ll be doing my best to make sure you don’t need to have any prior knowledge of the Mendeleevs to be able to understand what’s going on.

Long story short, this is a family named after the elements of the periodic table, in order. Our founder was Ellie Mendeleev, and we got all the way to Krypton Mendeleev. Krypton was our heir, and he moved to Moonlight Falls to start and ISBI and continue along the periodic table.

So, introducing our founder, Krypton Kal-El Clark Mendeleev. Yes he has two middle names. Krypton is an athletic loser who spent most of his time in high school getting picked on. He gained the coward trait upon becoming a young adult. His other traits are savvy sculptor and easily impressed.

I made a graveyard to house all the graves of our older ghosts, but those graves vanished. I’ll send the rest of them over with Sweetie Belle (our last-minute robot) along with the graves of Lacy and Arsenic and the rest.

One more thing we brought over! Yes, it’s Laurel Grisby! She went to prom with Krypton and they’ve been dating ever since.

Just to keep things fair, the two lovebirds don’t know each other, but I did send Krypton right over to snatch her up, because otherwise all the men in town would be fighting each other for her, of course.

Laurel: Welcome to my home, Krypton… I’ve never heard of your legacy before, but I feel like I know you somehow…

Krypton: So, I’ve just got this new house… and by new house I mean empty lot… um.

Laurel: Hee hee. You’re funny.

I think her left eye is drifting ever so slightly.

Commence wooing.

Krypton: You know, I could write you a love song… but I’m not good at writing… so I’ll just play one from a CD… um.

Krypton: Um… hey hottie, what’s baking.

Laurel: Hee hee.

Wooing successful. Somehow.

My first order of business will be to find a way to get rid of those fangs.

First kiss!

Krypton: I know we only just met, and we’ve spent the whole time flirting and kissing so you don’t actually know anything about me… but do you want to go steady with me?

Laurel: Of course.

With Laurel securely attached to Krypton, he goes over to the elixir store to see if there are any potions that get rid of vampirism. Sadly there are not, so we’ll have to figure something else out. I don’t really like playing vampires because their super skilling feels extremely cheat-y. With the way the kids skill, we could have heirs filling some of the skill-based LTWs before they take over as TH.

Speaking of LTWs, we spend some of our money on a television and a chess table so Krypton can work on his.

I later realized the money could better be spent on a toilet. Oops.

Laurel: So you must really like my house if you keep coming over here.

Krypton: I’m extremely tired and you have a bed.

Snuggle wuggles and no pass outs!

They wake up early the next morning and proceed to be adorable.

Krypton: Laurel, we only met yesterday but I feel like I’ve met you before… will you marry me?

Laurel: Oh, yes yes yes!!!

Neither of them knows anyone, so they have a nice private wedding.

Krypton: By the way this is an ISBI so be prepared to wet yourself at some point.

Laurel: Wait, but…

Krypton: *shut up kiss*

Epiprologue

This is a continuation of the Mendeleev Legacy. Since this is the chapter that’s meant to kind of tie the two together, it’s on both blogs. : /

Krypton left the Mendeleev house and, with much input from the rest of his family, decided to start his legacy in a town called Gravity Moonlight Falls, said to be the origin of all the fairies and werewolves that seemed to overrun Simerica nowadays. That was a bit scary for Krypton, as a coward, but the idea had been made final before he had gained the trait and there was no backing out now.

Moonlight Falls was too far away to drive there in one day… at least, not without driving at night. The highways were probably full of hitch-hiking ghosts and axe-murderers at night, so it was a relief when his mother and father had told him that a hotel room had been reserved in Bridgeport, so he’d have somewhere to stay on the way down to Moonlight Falls.

It was also a relief when he heard someone would be checking up on him to make sure he was alright. If he got mugged, at least someone would be able to inform his family of his demise promptly, and they would know to prepare Selenium or Bromine for the role of heir. Probably Selenium. Bro walked with this weird limp-thing ever since that one time she was grounded.

Krypton arrived in his hotel room well before nightfall, and it had a beautiful view. He stayed a bit back from the windows in case he’d fall out somehow.

Since he didn’t have any plans other than waiting for… whoever it was that would check up on him… Krypton changed into his athletic gear and started doing a workout with the television. One, two, three, four…

That was when She walked in. He’d never seen a picture before, since all of the family portraits had been lost in one of the Great Glitches generations before he’d been born, but he’d seen her ghost before. He was very glad that Ellie Mendeleev, the founder of the Mendeleev family, was appearing very corporeal this evening.

“Hello, Krypton! You look older than I expected, I’ll admit… and better looking… um…” She paused for a moment. “Anyway, I wanted to get a look at you, and debrief you on your objectives for the next part of the legacy.”

Krypton couldn’t help but think he’d need a cup of coffee to stay awake through it all.

“You look tired from your trip,” Ellie told him. “Why don’t you take a nap for a bit, and I’ll tell you more when you’re more well-rested.”

So Krypton climbed into bed, and tried to ease his mind about the future. After all, the founder of the family was right there, and she probably had some good tips to give him… just look at how the Mendeleevs had turned out with her as the founder.

She read as he napped, and Krypton was pretty sure that Ellie did not put down the book the entire time he was resting.

When darkness fell, Ellie led Krypton across the street, telling him that she would explain things when they reached their destination.

They went down to the basement of the building, into a bar. This was definitely not the sort of place that Krypton envisioned his great-great-whatever-grandmother frequenting.

“Now, the let’s talk about my legacy,” Ellie began.

“Don’t you mean my legacy?”

“Oh, no. It’ll always be my legacy. I’m just letting you borrow it for a bit. What do you see yourself doing with your life, Krypton?”

“Well, I want to achieve a perfect mind and perfect body, so no one will be able to pick on me anymore. That’s my lifetime wish. I thought I might get a job in the athletic career so I could work on my athletic skill while earning money, and then work on my logic skill at home.”

“Very good,” Ellie said. “Just don’t forget that you need to find a woman and give us some biological children to continue the legacy.”

It was pretty evident that Krypton had no objections to this part of his responsibilities.

“Now on to more serious matters,” Ellie said. “My legacy was founded on the ideas of science, knowledge, and learning. I think we can find a way to harness the idea of a legacy, and make it something more. Make it something to benefit science and all of simkind!”

Krypton was still caught up in the ‘producing offspring’ thing.

“Focus, kid! We don’t really know what the inner workings of a sim’s mind. We’re all little pixel people on a screen… but what does that mean for us? What is it really that our code tells us to do? The more we learn, the more questions we have about the sim mind. So I’ve devised a little psychology experiment. And you’re the guinea pig.”

“It’s called the Investigation into Sim Behavior while Independent, or ISBI for short.”

“I’m Surrounded by Idiots?” Krypton asked.

“If you really must use the layman’s terms. This experiment provides insight into the sim mind with very little interference. You’ll be the TH, which stands for–”

“Torch-holder?”

“If we’re continuing with the layman’s terms, then yes. It’s your job to found the family, and make sure things stay relatively on track until one of your offspring is ready to take over. Do you understand?”

“I… I guess.”

Krypton was still smiling, but it was out of nervousness rather than actual joy…

He had a bad feeling about this.
