The Skeleton and the Gnomes

Hello to all you lovely people! I realized when last playing that I hadn’t had my ‘family outing’ for a bit with the Mendeleevs, so we start this chapter with the Mendeleevs going to the library!

Or, you know, we would, if Silver weren’t vomiting bright blue all over the place.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 10.57.03 AM

Luckily, Palladium is a good grandma and takes care of our toddler while we’re not on the home lot. Even if Tin is a stinky little thing, and… I JUST realized right now when I was looking up that my periodic table has the elements listed in five different languages. Neato.

I don’t remember where I was originally going with that sentence.

Silver is unavailable to care for her child because she’s writing. What else is new? That’s, like, all she ever does ever.

Silver: Because you make me.

You’re the one to roll the wish, sweetie.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 10.58.14 AM

Quan also helps with the baby.

He’s kept the outfit he was wearing, and I just realized we should really change his clashing green shoes.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 10.58.19 AM

This woman was not very happy that we brought a toddler to the library, but townies really don’t have a right to talk, since they regularly bring tots to all sorts of community lots and ignore them.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.00.23 AM

When checking up on Palli to make sure everything was still copacetic, I found she was hiding THIS in her inventory. YOINK. Using this for Silver’s LTW kthxbai.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.01.25 AM

Palladium proceeds to have her revenge by passing out in the middle of the floor.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.03.12 AM

Upon returning home, Quan takes control of the rocking chair. I had almost no trouble at all with the rocking chair up until this point, but he just… refused… to leave.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.03.37 AM

Even if it meant missing the ‘pop’ of his second child forcing Silver into maternity clothing.

Silver: Ah, the miracle of life!

Get back to writing.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.04.09 AM

And then… this happened?

Game: Welp, looks like they’re on a date now! Have fun, you two!

Silver: … when did this happen?

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.04.24 AM

I don’t know. Quan’s been sitting in that rocking chair for hours now, not interacting with anyone, and you’ve been sitting on the computer barely registering his existence.

… best date ever?

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.05.21 AM

I’m counting this as a fail because Quan was COMPLETELY capable of coming to the rescue of the crying child, but he decided to sit in his rocking chair. This one’s on you, Quan.

The rocking chair and the crystal ball. That’s two strikes. Don’t make me regret adding you to the family.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.05.45 AM

When he got up for a brief moment, I pounced.

Quan: But… I was sitting there… : (

HA.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.06.13 AM

Silver: DAMN YOU! I go to sleep for a few hours and wake up to find my granddaughter sleeping on the floor! Are they even TRYING to care for this child?

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.07.36 AM

… and then we got this in the mail.

David: Congratulations on your wedding. WINK.

Silver: … do we even know this guy? o_o

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.08.14 AM

Palladium: Look. At. Me. I am taking this brat to her crib. Unlike SOME people. You know, it’s not too late to say I’m still TH and try for an heir that’s not such a disappointment. : /

Since I’ve been controlling Silver for quite some time now, I think it really is too late.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.09.26 AM

We got Bonehilda. I think Silver wished for it or something? And I thought it might help with the state the house is getting in, with dirty toilets and laundry piling everywhere. I thought putting her under the house and out of the way would be a good idea.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.10.21 AM

Bonehilda: I’ll just wander around under the house for all eternity. No big deal. 😀

Apparently, moving between the stilts is not an option for sims routing. Which could be useful if we ever want to starve a sim but don’t want to have to keep one of the rooms locked up for a week.

Stilts: YES. BLOOD SACRIFICE.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.11.26 AM

Quan found a laundry gnome, which was named Edamame, because our first gnome happened to have ‘Leroy’ in the text box when I went to name him and I was like ‘sure, legacy founder name theme, SOUNDS GREAT’. Because I’m that kind of lazy. Edamame is the name of the founder of the Food Family Legacy, and Leroy is named after the founder of the Southern Prettacy, Leroy Secksie.

Presence of skeleton in epic bathroom makes epic bathroom at least twice as epic, in my opinion. Even if the skeleton is wearing a frilly maid costume and a garter.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.15.43 AM

I think at this point I did a sim check, because I can’t figure out why else I would take a picture of Palladium reading.

Palladium: Because I’m captivating, of course.

Of course.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.15.54 AM

Quan stole the computer for a skating game. : /

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.16.05 AM

So Silver is writing in the spare bedroom, which I may just convert to a study for the time being. I really like the nursery and I don’t want to have to change it when the kids of this generation get older, so I think I’m going to make a ‘playhouse’ somewhere else on the lot which will hold the bedrooms of the children.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.16.13 AM

Oh, and Tin’s sleeping. Sim check wasn’t quite over yet.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.18.07 AM

Silver’s current project is a horror story inspired by the skeleton maid, called ‘Bonehilda’s Revenge,’ in which Bonehilda becomes fed up and murders the family who hired her.

… hopefully this remains fictional.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.21.09 AM

What? Quan INTERACTING with the baby? How’s this possible?

Oh, right. Rocking chair is gone. Unfortunately, the interaction is short-lived.

Quan: I’m going to go take a bath now, Tin. See you later.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.22.32 AM

Bonehilda: Mm, yeah. Work it, girl. You’re gorgeous.

This’ll probably get on my nerves after a bit, but right now I find Bonehilda’s quirks hilarious.

Bonehilda: You don’t look a day over five hundred!

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.23.31 AM

And on the subject of me being easily amused… West-Nest. WEST. NEST.

IT RHYMMMMMESSSSSSSS!

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.27.20 AM

Palladium is still bettering herself for the job she’s already topped, so that’s cool. I’m interested to see how much money she’ll end up making, since she still has a performance bar that goes up and I’m guessing she gets raises when it reaches the top?

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.27.43 AM

I also noticed that Tin gets ‘get picked up’ by Bonehilda a lot in her action queue, but it never happens. Bonehilda walks over to Tin, and stops. I can only imagine that Bonehilda wants to pick up the precious little bundle of baby laughter and reconnect with the world of the living, forming a lasting bond between herself and Tin, who will grow and teach her about life and love… but stops because she thinks she looks too creepy and doesn’t want to scare the baby.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.27.54 AM

Although if Tin can sleep with THIS in her room, I think she’ll be alright seeing a friendly skeleton in a froofy skirt.

I mean, she’s already cool with ghosts popping up in her house.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.28.38 AM

TRANSITION EXECUTED FLAWLESSLY. TEN OUT OF TEN!

Hi Olive!

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.30.45 AM

In addition to chess, Palladium continues to improve her painting skills, and sometimes produces pieces like these that I like to keep in the house. I’m hoping Silver will be able to take her mother’s lead and complete her painting on her own if we don’t get to topping the skill before she passes the torch.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.31.34 AM

ICE CREAM BREAK.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.33.47 AM

Quan: Yeah, I can talk. No, I wasn’t doing anything. Just taking out the trash, but I dumped it on the porch, so that’s not a problem.

I am not amused. : /

GNOME INTERMISSION

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.34.04 AM

Edamame: Wake uppp.

Leroy: No.

Edamame: But I’m lonelyyyyy.

Leroy: An’ I don’ like you. : /

Edamame: : (

We interrupt this intermission to bring you: BABY.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.35.01 AM

Silver: Now that you’re done with the gnomes, can we pleeeeeease go to the hospital?

Fine.

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 11.35.56 AM

It’s a girl! Her name is Antimony, which is one of the names I’ve been looking forward to for a while, if only because that’s the name of a protagonist of one of my favorite webcomics.

Although OUR Antimony is nothing like the comic’s, because she is clearly not a robot. ._.

Antimony was born with the traits disciplined and eccentric.

  1. I love Silver… She’s awesome… Tin and your Bonehilda are amusing… I didn’t think Bonehilda COULD pick up babies? Little Antimony’s name is pretty adorable, I’m looking forward to meeting her. Hmm, I remember liking Quan, but I must say, he’s a little bit of a dullard in this post!

  2. Your sims can at least find the toilet on their own (mostly) well done!

I’m with you, Antimony is a cute name, almost normal, when we consider some of the other elements as names. Can’t wait to see what she looks like – maybe she’ll have *gasp* black hair?

I have that issue with Bonehilda also! I think EA failed on *finishing* the coding so that Bonehilda could take care of the babies. Interesting to note, though, that the game doesn’t force babysitters to come if there’s a Bonehilda on the lot. She can’t help them, but the game doesn’t know that.
