50 Squared

Tin is the 50th element on the periodic table, and this is the 50th post on the blog! Coincidence? Maybe.

I also saw this at the Marbles Brain Store.

I didn’t take a photo in the store, and the only picture I found was really tiny, but that’s a ‘marble and holes and you tilt the table’ labyrinth with the elements of the periodic table going all along the path you must take. It was very cool.

Now onto our sometimes-regularly-scheduled Mendeleevs.

I think this whole chapter takes place in the span of a day or two. I was actually going to play a bit more, until I realized that I’d taken a decent amount of pictures… I’d thought I’d had like ten or fifteen, tops.

Well, it turns out that I saved the game RIGHT before Silver was due to be… due. I usually occupy myself with something while the game is loading up, and I became aware that it had finished loading because I’d heard Quan screaming about Silver going into labor.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.41.10 AM

And FAIL. She didn’t even stop walking to pee… so there is one sim, apparently, who has learned to pee while doing something else… but that is a pee puddle behind our lovely TH.

Now, it might be argued it wasn’t her fault, because the game won’t let her do anything else while in labor but she could have gone to the bathroom before it got that bad. So it’s her fault.

And, by extension, mine.

Little baby Tin is a girl. She’s a genius who can apprehend burglars. And she’s also a slob.

No one Tin is related to is a cop, that I know of. If anything, she should be getting the ‘burglar’ trait, being related to Palladium.

… Palli’s not going to be happy about this, is she?

He just wanted to scare me, though. He still only had a light blue moodlet that said he had 2 hours. He made it in time.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.51.45 AM

Even though Silver is hungry, tired, and drenched in her own urine, she takes care of her baby’s needs before her own. Also, you can see the giant pile of laundry that I needed to move from our empty room in order to furnish a nursery.

My only explanation for this is that the laundry coming from people bathing in the epic bathroom teleports into the room next to it, since the bathroom’s so small.

And screw you, spell-check. Teleport is a word. What even is a telephoto? Apparently a photograph of distant objects.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.54.06 AM

Silver: We had to move an enormous pile of dirty clothes in order to make a bedroom for Tin. Would it be too much to ask that the non-Torch-holders clean up your garbage every once in a while?

Palladium: Don’t get snippy with me, Silver. I’ve killed people for less, and we can still use one of your brothers as a spare.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.54.59 AM

Silver: I mean, um… you’re fine. You’re always making art to beautify the house. I meant that Indium and Cadmium should clean up their stuff, you know?

Nice save.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.54.24 AM

Quan’s out playing with the crystal ball. It’s kind of cute how they’re always telling their fortunes.

It gets less cute after a while, but perhaps not for the reasons you might think.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.55.51 AM

Palladium: Little brat. I clean up after myself! And everyone else. Look at all these dishes. Leaving dirty laundry on the floor? I’ll leave a poisonous scorpion in her bed. See how she likes it.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.56.54 AM

At this point, I realized that I hadn’t taken pictures of Tin’s nursery, so I took them now. I laid out the furniture before recoloring anything, and noticed that the toy box had an interesting ‘default’ recoloring that I really liked, so I worked the rest of the room off of it. I like how it turned out.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.57.09 AM

The other side. Through the doorway is the closet, which I might get rid of so there’s more space to place things in the room. We’ll see.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 8.59.06 AM

And then the camera brought me to Cadmium!

That’s not your bed, but happy birthday anyway!

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.04.38 AM

Cadmium gained the party animal trait. He wants to be a home design hotshot.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.10.21 AM

Indium gained the schmoozer trait and wants to max the social groups that came with University.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.14.40 AM

Silver takes care of her baby, and it’s adorable, and I love the room, and *devolves into unintelligible cooing noises*

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.21.22 AM

Since the baby’s been born now, I decided it would be a nice day for the wedding. It’s also the boys’ graduation, though, so I thought it would be best to set the wedding after graduation completed, or else the game will be all I DUN CARE IF THERE’S A WEDDING HAPPENING, GRADUATION NAO!

Cue me forgetting to set the time when I made the party, so the party’s at 9 AM now. *sigh*

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.21.35 AM

I catch Quan and Cadmium bonding over arcade games, or something. I bet Quan only plays arcade games when you don’t have to pay a quarter to play them. At my summer camp we had this game that was like Pac-Man but with a ladybug, and that was free to play because no one brought money to summer camp.

Until girls started selling friendship bracelets and beauty salon services. : /

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.23.13 AM

Quan started getting emotional and crying before the wedding started. It was cute.

Quan: I’m just… so happy…

And Silver was thinking about the food she ate a bit before. : / I’m not even sure what she’d just eaten.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.23.52 AM

Um… guys? I put the benches there for a reason.

That one guy sitting on the bench? He sat down to read a book. To READ a BOOK. He disappoints me even more than the others.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.24.14 AM

Silver: Quan, when I first met you in France, I knew you were the one for me. Even if you were stealing the excavation site I wanted to get.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.24.24 AM

I love that dorky face they always make when they get married. It’s adorable.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.24.38 AM

Indium: Hey, it’s our graduation!

SHUT UP. LET THE WEDDING FINISH. I’ll be with you shortly.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.24.49 AM

First kiss as husband and wife NOT interrupted by a graduation. That never happened.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.25.22 AM

Silver: Who wants cake?

Cadmium: Sorry, sis! Gotta run!

Quan: We’re going to a graduation!

I may have cheated an deleted the graduation interaction from the rest of the family, but screw graduation. : / I hope for Sims 4 they realized that no one likes losing control of their sims because the game hard-coded them to go spend an afternoon starving in town hall or yell at a kid for being at a friends house (or even prom) past a certain time.

Not that I’ll likely be playing Sims 4 for quite some time. But whatever.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.26.04 AM

Guy: Hey, Silver. If your husband is leaving, I can help you with the honeymoon…

Silver: WHO ARE YOU??

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.27.00 AM

The graduation apparently has MULTIPLE ‘force these actions on every sim in the house’ actions, in case I ‘accidentally’ cross off ‘go to graduation’ BUT OMG WHY WOULDNT THE PLAYER WANT ALL THEIR SIMS TO GO INTO A RABBITHOLE FOR A FEW HOURS. I guess.

So that’s why Silver ended up going to graduation.

Silver: I actually watch my family’s important life moments. UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE. : /

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.28.00 AM

Cadmium: Hey, Silver… you’re not bitter that we kind of ignored your wedding, right?

Silver: Shut up.

Silver: … the wedding’s been over for HOURS, twerp. : /

We kicked them out unceremoniously afterward.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.32.52 AM

I’m pretty sure Palladium didn’t go to the graduation. Or the wedding.

Palladium: I’m just taking care of a baby. : /

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.33.23 AM

And then Yttrium showed up! Hi!

Palladium: … this is my room now, Mom.

Yttrium: Weren’t you crying over how much you missed me a couple days ago?

Palladium: I only miss you when you’re not pissing me off. Get lost.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.34.42 AM

Quan: We’re losing money with this water bill!

… you’d be better off fixing the sink, rather than just mopping water up for all eternity, but I can’t really tell you what to do, so… carry on.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.36.17 AM

And this is why the crystal ball being used constantly by Quan stopped being cute. I sold it afterward and got a shuffleboard.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.49.18 AM

Sometime after that, Tin stopped being a pink little cocoon thing. She’s pretty cute, although she looks rather like Silver and Palladium to my eyes. I like when they’re kids and do stuff. And things.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.50.30 AM

… okay, she is very cute.

Tin: Look at my dragon?

Yes, look at the camera. Don’t pay attention to your parents making a sibling behind you.

Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 9.53.23 AM

… or we might not be getting another kid this generation. I feel like jamming straight through a desk would mess a bit with one’s reproduction system. : /

  1. Yes, graduation is very powerful. I thought it was cute the first time I ever saw it, but that was a long, long time ago. Tin’s nursery is absolutely adorable! I love how you found a piece you liked, and made everything else match. You’ve come so far with this challenge, it’s very exciting! Congrats!

  2. Matching the room of one piece, that’s a great idea. I usually just recolour in the sim’s fave colour – I like your idea more. And where did you get that cute toybox from, btw? I like it, too!

You know what’s hilarious? When I cancel one twin’s “Graduate” action, he graduates at home…then the game forces him to City Hall for his twin’s graduation *facepalm* I wish they wouldn’t hard code such things. Adding them is great, as long as they’re voluntary!
